Verkode for Wix — Privacy policy

This policy covers Verkode, the barcode label app for Wix Stores. It describes exactly what the app reads from a site, what it writes back, what it keeps, and where that is kept. It is written to be checked against the app's behaviour rather than to cover every eventuality.

What the app does

Verkode turns products in a Wix Stores catalogue into printable barcode labels, and can fill in barcodes and SKUs that a catalogue does not have yet. The PDF itself is built inside the merchant's browser: the contents of a print run — titles, prices, codes — are never sent to our servers.

What it reads

• Products and their variants: name, option names, SKU, barcode, price, image
• Inventory quantities per variant

These come from the permission scopes SCOPE.STORES.PRODUCT_READ and SCOPE.STORES.INVENTORY_ITEM_READ, which a site owner approves when installing the app.

What it writes

One thing, in one place. On the Barcodes & SKUs page, and only when the merchant asks for it, the app writes a generated barcode or SKU into a variant field that is empty. Every proposed code is shown before anything is written, and a field that already holds a value is never overwritten. This uses SCOPE.STORES.PRODUCT_WRITE. No other part of the app changes anything on a site.

What it never accesses

No personal data about a store's customers. The app has no access to orders, customers, addresses, email addresses, payment information or site visitors, and it requests no permission that would grant it.

What it stores, and where

The app keeps only what a merchant sets up, keyed by the Wix app instance:

• Label formats saved by the merchant — sizes in millimetres, what to print, the price language
• The shop logo, if one is uploaded to be printed on labels
• A count of labels generated in the current calendar month, for the free plan's allowance

It stores no product data, no copy of the catalogue and no personal data. The records are held in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon in the European Union (Frankfurt, eu-central-1), and are separated by the Wix app instance identifier, so one site's settings are never reachable from another.

Cookies and tracking

The app sets no cookies of its own, runs no analytics and no advertising scripts, and does not profile anyone. Wix may set its own cookies as part of the dashboard the app runs inside; those are governed by Wix's privacy policy.

Who else is involved

• Wix — hosts the app and provides the catalogue APIs it reads
• Neon — hosts the database described above, in the EU

No other party receives data from the app.

How long it is kept, and deletion

Saved formats, the logo and the monthly counter are kept while the app is installed, so that uninstalling and reinstalling does not lose a merchant's setup. Uninstalling the app immediately ends all access to the site's catalogue. To have the stored settings deleted, write to the support address on the app's App Market listing; deletion is carried out within 30 days.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and equivalent laws you may ask what is stored about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to its processing. Because the app stores no personal data beyond the identifiers Wix assigns to a site and its owner, such a request is usually answered by deleting the site's saved settings. Write to the support address on the app's App Market listing.

Changes

If the app starts reading, writing or storing something else, this page changes in the same release, and the date at the top changes with it.
